Contemporary Greek Music for Flute and Piano (IRIDA 006)

cd baby

This is the latest release by Irida Classical, consisting of works for flute and flute and piano duos. It was coproduced with the State Conservatoire of Thessaloniki and received funding from the Greek Composers’ Union.

irida 006This release aims to fill a gap in contemporary Greek discography by offering a collection of eight works for flute solo, flute trio and flute and piano duos written by Greek composers of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Seven of these eight works are being released for the first time (Antoniou’s Lament has been released before).

The choice of works attempts a representation of as many generations of Greek composers and compositional styles as possible.

The performers on the CD are:

Nicolos Dimopoulos- flute and Dimitris Dimopoulos- piano.

Guest performers: Petros Pappas, Lydia Kokkoria and George Xanthopoulos- flute on track 7.
